Retail consumer purchasing drivers and barriers

Retail case study

The Retail Study was delivered to a packed house, I managed to secure a seat where I could just fit my A5 pad on my lap. Unfortunately the popularity of this study and the fact that this presentation started late and over ran added to the challenge of capturing this wide ranging study.

This is the original work:

Retail verbatim notes

Realtime notes, drawn in A5 notebook, under very cramped conditions, sadly with a few people who needed to get past regularly, but the subject matter was great.

I sent this to the presenter Humayan Rashid; and his response “This rocks!” prompted me to create a visualisation that better captured the main points of the meeting. During which I learnt that ‘store leavers’ are in fact ‘store levers’; I subtle but important point! As seen in the first edit of the study:

Preliminary reworking for retail study

After discussing the content of the research and capturing the main points I was then able to create the more studied version that told the story more accurately:

Retail presentation sketch
Initial retail outline

Confirmed all flow and captions with the team and add the explanatory text (not shown here):

Retail consumer purchasing drivers and barriers
Consumer purchasing drivers and levers study

This was then circulated with the presentation deck to the wider audience.
